Hey guys, after my dad passed away, my mom gave me his 1986 Corvette. I’m grateful for it. I knew it wouldn’t start right away since it had been sitting unused over the winter. When I began working on it, I found that the engine was seized and the starter needed replacing. I installed a high-torque starter and managed to unseize the engine. The fuel system had a lot of water, so I emptied the tank and flushed out the water. There are plenty of sparks when tested, but still no fire. I decided to do a compression test. Ahh!

Before you broke it loose, did you grease the pistons? It is possible that you harmed the rings—or even the walls of the cylinder.

Yes, I did fill the cylinders with PB blaster and ATF. Soaked it for approximately a week before to its release. Yes, there could be damage to the cylinder and rings.

Yes, it is challenging to identify without disassembling the engine. It might be my only choice.
