When you see the “Service Brake Assist” message, it means there’s a malfunction with the system. It could be due to a brake sensor failure or low brake system pressure.

The purpose of the brake assist feature is to assist drivers in applying all emergency stopping power during a panic stop. In order to help stop the car as quickly as possible, Brake Assist applies full braking force if it senses an excessive rate of pedal application and pressure as a result of a rapid stop.
