Why does my car make a noise when turning sharp left?

Hello everyone! My 2018 Chevy Cruze hatchback produces a metallic grinding noise from the left front tire region everytime I turn sharply to the left. I took it to a vehicle wash with an undercarriage wash because I thought maybe I had a peeble or a pebble stuck. After the wash, the loudness stopped for the next 12 to 14 hours. It’s back now. Any ideas what this might be, and maybe why the noise stopped for a short while after the car wash?

It’s definitely the wheel bearing. I just had mine replaced, and it was doing the same thing as yours.

Wheel bearing issues? You’ll often notice a subtle change in tone when steering in one direction or the other before they become severe. Once they worsen, you’ll hear a metal-on-metal noise as they begin to deteriorate. Have you had any brake work done? I had to replace my front and rear brakes at around 100k miles. It’s definitely something you should have checked out.

A noise when turning sharp left could indicate issues with the power steering system, worn-out CV joints, or a problem with the suspension components. Have a mechanic inspect the vehicle to diagnose and address the underlying cause.

Great advice, SparkySamantha! That change in tone when steering is definitely a red flag for wheel bearing issues. It’s always better to catch these things early before they get worse. I haven’t had any brake work done recently, but I’ll definitely get it checked out soon, especially since I’m nearing that 100k mile mark. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi,If your car makes noise when turning sharply left, it might be due to power steering, CV joints, suspension parts, wheel bearings, or tires. Have a mechanic check it if the noise continues.
