Would you stay with a gas or diesel Silverado or switch to the all EV Silverado?

An electric avalanche?

I believe that people will do and pick what works best for them. Do you live in a city and enjoy assisting your neighbors with their moving or gardening needs? The EV Silverado might be a good choice for you. Do you live in an area with a scarcity of charging stations, transport relatively heavy items, and regularly travel long distances? The gas option is probably the best bet. Heavy transporting, such as a fifth wheel or other huge trailer? Diesel is the best option unless you want to spend a lot of money on gas.

Personally, Iā€™d go with something like a hybrid V8. Power to do decent work when needed, but not so much that I want to tear my eyes out watching the fuel meter around town.

When I am in the United States, I require a truck capable of hauling and towing huge loads. Electricity is not a viable alternative for me at this moment. For the time being, the only options are diesel or gasoline.

DeBoss Garage and Edison Electric are developing a diesel-electric kit for 3/4-ton and one-ton trucks. That could be an option once they work out the problems.

The concept is to use electric-driven axles, which eliminate parasitic loss from transmissions and driveshafts. A little Cummins engine powers a generator. The batteries do not need to be as large as they would be in a pure electric vehicle. The engine runs at optimal RPMs throughout its operation. The engine and generator will start and stop While driving, make as many stops as you need. The truck can still be charged using shore power (at home or a charging station). If the power goes out, the generator can power your entire home.

Trains have been running this route for years. It sounds fantastic in theory. I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

I prefer the Colorado because both Silverado models are larger than I need or want. But if I had to choose, I would go with the gas V8.
