Looking to buy a used car and am stuck between a 2008 Impala and a 2011 Charger. Both have good reviews but need some input on what would be the smarter pick. Has anyone had experience with these?

I’d say go with the Impala. That model is super reliable and really comfortable for long drives. Had one for a while and it was a solid car.
Yeah, the Impala’s 3800 engine is one of Chevy’s best in terms of reliability. Just remember it’s front-wheel drive, though, if that matters to you.
I’d take the Impala any day. It’s a car you can rely on for years.
I’ve had two Impalas from that generation (a 2010 and a 2011), both are still going strong and each is over 200K miles. I’d recommend it for sure.
If you got 6.5k to spend, you might wanna come down to Texas. You’ll find a way better deal on something here.
I own an '08 Impala too. It’s been a good car, but I think the price you’re looking at is a little high for that model.
I’d go with the Charger for the rear-wheel drive. The 3.6 engine is pretty solid.

Actually, that engine has some real problems. Oil filter housing leaks, plus camshaft and valve seat issues… not exactly great.
@Kelly
I’ve had that engine in two cars, both passed 100k miles without any major issues. There’s a fix for the oil filter problem: you can switch to a spin-on metal filter, which helps a lot. Dorman even makes a metal filter housing that works well. Never had any valve seat problems either—combined, I put over 375k miles on both cars without a hitch.
