2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 issues... need some help

When I start my truck in the morning, the idle is rough and it sometimes stalls, but only on the first start. I’ve also noticed a slight knock developing in the engine. The truck tends to chug at first and lurches forward even without pressing the gas. I think this might be a separate issue. Once, I had low oil pressure and the engine started overheating, so I pulled over immediately. I might have an oil leak too. The lurching usually stops after I drive for a bit. My theories are that my oil pump is going bad, or it could be an O2 sensor, the oil sensor, or maybe the injectors are gunked up. I know gunking usually happens with glow plugs, though. All these issues popped up suddenly; the truck was running great before I started driving longer distances every day.

Sounds like you might have multiple issues going on. Definitely get the oil pressure checked out right away. That can lead to serious engine damage.

I’d also check the oil level and look for any leaks. If the oil is low, it can cause rough idling and knocking sounds.

Yeah, I’m worried about that too. I’ll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

The rough idle can sometimes be caused by a dirty throttle body or bad spark plugs. Might be worth cleaning or replacing those.

Low oil pressure can definitely cause stalling. If you suspect the oil pump, it might be wise to get that checked before driving it too much more.

Did you check for any trouble codes? That might give you a clue about the O2 sensor or other issues.
