Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2014 Chevy Cruze, and lately, the anti-theft system has been giving me trouble. It seems to randomly kick in, making it impossible to start the car sometimes. Has anyone else run into this issue, or does anyone have any advice on how to fix it?
Yeah, had this happen with my Cruze too. Sometimes disconnecting the battery for a few minutes resets it. You could try that if you haven’t already.

Thanks! I haven’t tried that yet, I’ll give it a shot.
I’ve seen this in other models too. You might want to check the ignition cylinder or the key itself. Sometimes it’s just a weak key signal that makes the system think it’s an unauthorized start.

Good point. I’ll take a look at the key fob – hopefully it’s something simple like that.
Have you noticed if it happens more in cold weather? My Cruze’s anti-theft acts up mainly when it’s below freezing.

Now that you mention it, yeah! It has been colder lately. Do you think it’s related?
@Gale
I think so. Could be moisture in the wiring or just the cold affecting the signal. You could try keeping the car in a garage or warmer spot to see if it helps.
Sometimes getting the anti-theft system reprogrammed at the dealer can help, but it’s not cheap. I had mine done, and it fixed the issue for a while.

I was hoping to avoid the dealer, but I might have to if nothing else works. Thanks for the suggestion!
