I replaced the oil pressure solenoid (the one in the pan) on my 2016 Malibu 1.5L turbo today. Car has 130k miles, and I’m seeing 46 PSI max on startup, 28 PSI at idle, and 30-32 PSI while driving. Just wondering if this is within the normal range. Anyone else with similar numbers?
Those numbers sound about right to me. I’ve got a similar setup, and mine hovers around 27-30 PSI at idle, 32-35 while cruising. I think you’re good.

Appreciate it. Just wasn’t sure after swapping the solenoid. Wanted to double-check, lol.
Wait, what exactly is the solenoid you replaced? I’m not super familiar with this engine.

It’s the oil pressure solenoid. It’s located in the oil pan and helps regulate oil pressure. Mine was acting up, so I swapped it out.

Gotcha, makes sense. Thanks for explaining.
IDK about exact specs, but I’ve heard 20-30 PSI at idle is normal for a lot of cars. Your numbers seem pretty close.

Yeah, that’s about right. As long as it doesn’t drop way below that or spike crazy high, you’re fine.
Did replacing the solenoid fix anything noticeable? I’ve been having random oil pressure warnings pop up lately, wondering if it’s the same issue.

Yeah, it fixed the random low oil pressure warnings I was getting before. Might be worth checking yours out if you’re seeing the same thing.

Thanks! I’ll check it out. Guess it’s time to crawl under the car again, lol.
I’m at 110k miles with my 2016 Malibu, and my oil pressure numbers are pretty close to yours. I think you’re in the clear!

Good to know. Thanks for the reassurance!
