2021 Spark intermittent start problem

We have got a 2021 Spark with about 63000 miles. Every once in a while (like every two weeks) it only starts on the second attempt. We have a 2021 Spark with about 63000 miles. Every two weeks, it only starts on the second attempt, despite the battery being brand new and checking the starter and alternator and confirming they are in good condition. Fuel pressure seems fine and there are no engine codes or a check engine light. Any idea what else it could be?

Update: someone else was driving the car, and it randomly lost engine power and started sputtering. So she pulled over, restarted the engine and it was fine. Still no engine codes or check engine lights. So it’s not a starter problem, has to be a fueling problem.

There are a ton of potential causes (fuel pump weakness, injector leak), but I would get the battery examined first. A brand-new battery does not always indicate that it is free of problems. Naturally, don’t get it checked by the retailer where you purchased it.

@EnockChevy Oh, I failed to mention that the battery was examined along with the starter and alternator.

@Lagon Then the fuel injector is my only remaining guess.

@EnockChevy Thank you; sure, that might be the case. Surely it would throw an engine code?

@Lagon It’s possible that you should begin with the assumption that, even though you have observed a recurring failure and no related code is displaying, the issue is not causing any code display, even though there may still be an unidentified problem.

I take it that 2021 would still be covered by the powertrain warranty?

@Lucas Yes but it expired 3000 miles ago :slightly_frowning_face: Good idea to maybe try my luck at the local Chevrolet dealer.

@Lucas I don’t think these cars have a powertrain warranty after 6months

@Olivia I mean… that’s false

The 2021 Chevrolet Spark comes with a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile Powertrain warranty

So while OP is a little past the 60,000-mile mark, he should probably try his luck with Chevrolet anyway and see if they’ll honor it. Worth a shot

Have you checked the ignition switch? My guess try checking it out.
