I’m considering trading in my 2023 Camaro SS 1LE for a 2024 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, but I’m a bit hesitant due to some of the issues I’ve been seeing online about the Trail Boss. I’d like to hear your opinions on this.
So what are the exact issues?
I believe 3.0 is awesome
My 2024 Trail Boss 5.3 has been perfect so far; most of the issues I’ve come across here seem to be related to the diesel models.
I’m also considering the same truck: the Trail Boss with the 5.3 engine.
People seldom share positive experiences online but quickly jump to complain when something goes wrong, so it’s no surprise that you hear mostly about failures. My 2021 model had lifter issues before reaching 10k miles, but it’s widely known that GM had a problematic batch of lifters that year. Now, with 17k miles on my 2024 model, I haven’t encountered any problems. If you like it, go for it! Ford, Ram, and even the supposedly reliable Tundra have their own issues, so choose whatever you prefer. I would suggest considering an extended warranty, though.
