91,000 miles on a leased 2020 Chevy Equinox.. 1-2 years left. How long will this last?

Hello.

Anyway, long story short. It is my mother’s automobile. She has been traveling a lot for business and 400 miles each way to Cleveland to assist her brother with moving and other related tasks. She took the automobile to Florida as well. To cut a long story short, the automobile has been driven 91,000 kilometers since the end of 2019.

Let me say that she has a year remaining. Fifteen thousand miles annually.

Clearly, in order to avoid having to pay over $10,000 in mileage fees, she will need to purchase the vehicle and drive it. Is it wise to purchase the vehicle at 120–150k miles per year or less? Is this a car you can trust? For what length of time may it last?

We are not sure what to do at all. She is never had this issue before; her family has only required her to travel frequently during the last few years.

At that point, you’ll most likely be among the autos with the highest mileage. 150k kilometers in a period of three to four years? Fleet level is that. If the engine is the 1.5L turbo, the Malibu also has it, and some of those have heavy mileage from things like cab service. However, when you’re the pioneer, I doubt you’ll have many people you can utilize as a point of data collecting.

The engines typically produce 150–200k, but after that, a rebuild is most likely required. The automobile will be “relatively” new throughout. Paint and other such materials won’t be worn, nor will bushings. Put in a new engine and carry on driving.
But don’t ever do that again, buy a low time lease and run it like a long haul trucker. Like that was not smart.
