Are GMC allowed here too? (Iceland)

I’ve been seeing a lot of discussion about different trucks, so I was wondering if GMC trucks are allowed here in Iceland too? I have one and it’s been my pride and joy, just curious if anyone else has a GMC in Iceland.

Love the truck, especially the tires! What size and kind are they?

Sure! But there’s also a GMC sub you might want to check out :slight_smile:

GMC, Chevy, Tomato, Tomatoe! :joy:

Did that truck have a solid front axle from the factory, or was it converted? Love these glacier crawler builds. They just look awesome, and the fitment on those wide tires is insane.

That’s a conversion. GM stopped using solid front axles on light duty trucks in the 80s.

@Teo
Exactly. The GMT400 platform was the first GM 4WD truck with independent front suspension, starting in 1988. This looks like a mid-to-late '90s model. Also cool that it’s got the Sportside bed—GM’s first use of composite bedsides, which continued into the GMT800 series.

@Galen
Wait, composite beds? Don’t forget the Chevrolet Cameo. :wink:

I’d love to see you drive that rig in the USA! It looks like a beast.

Why are the tires in Iceland so massive?

Glacier climbing. Iceland has tons of big American trucks because they used to be easy to import, and the tax laws favored them if they were over a certain weight. The loophole closed around 2010, but you still see them everywhere. Plus, they’re great for the terrain!

Those are some serious tires, wow! :blue_car:

That thing is badass :fire:

Stomper 4x4 vibes, love it!

Looks like an absolute beast with those wheels and tires! Nice rig, man.
