Check out my 1965 Impala SS project car

I’m working on my 1965 Impala SS project car and would love to share some updates. It’s been a journey, and I’m really excited about where it’s heading. Anyone else working on a classic ride? Would love to hear your stories.

That’s awesome. I’ve always loved the 1965 Impala. What kind of work are you doing on it?

Thanks. I’m mostly focusing on the engine and some interior work. Just trying to get it running smoothly and looking good.

@Wilder
Sounds like a solid plan. Are you doing the engine work yourself or getting help?

A bit of both, actually. I’m learning as I go, but I have a friend who knows a lot about engines helping me out.

Nice, I had a 1966 Impala before. Those cars are so fun to work on. Do you have any plans for the paint?

Yeah, I’m thinking of going with a classic blue. Something that really pops and looks striking on the road.

@Wilder
Good choice. Blue looks great on those cars. Are you planning to do the paint job yourself or hiring someone?

I would like to do it myself if I can get the right materials and some guidance. It seems like a fun project.

I love the 1965 model. How’s the bodywork looking? Any rust issues you are dealing with?

A bit of rust, but nothing too crazy. Just some patches to deal with, you know? It’s part of the charm of restoring a classic.

@Wilder
Totally get that. Rust can be a pain, but it sounds manageable. What tools are you using for bodywork?

I have a basic set of tools, but I’m looking to pick up some better ones as I go. Any recommendations would be helpful.

That’s sweet. Do you have any plans for upgrades? Maybe some modern tech to make it more enjoyable?

Definitely thinking about adding a modern audio system. I want to keep it classic but enjoy some new tech while driving.

@Wilder
Sounds great. Just make sure it fits the look of the car so it doesn’t stand out too much.

Exactly. I want to find something that integrates well with the classic vibe.

I’m jealous. I want a project car too. Any advice for someone looking to start their own restoration?

Just go for it. Start with something you love and don’t be afraid to ask for help. The community is super supportive and helpful.

@Wilder
That’s solid advice. I think the passion for the car makes all the difference in the project.
