I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier, someone told me it’s not a good idea to fill up the tank as it can damage the tank with the amount of weight. Is that true or was that just BS?

To avoid slipping off, your tank would need to be hanging on the last few threads of rust. Tanks and straps are designed to keep a full tank even after an accident.

That’s not true at all. In fact; I would make sure it’s never empty. It’s 24 years old and may have some sediment at the bottom.

Fill only till the nozzle clicks and stops itself. Don’t add anything more after that, not even to round up to the nearest dollar. This prevents liquid fuel from entering the vent line and potentially harming the vent valve or charcoal canister.
