Help needed with coolant level sensor for 03 Silverado 2500HD

Hey y’all! I need some help replacing my coolant reservoir with a nice aluminum one to match my radiator. I found one that fits, but the problem is that the sensor doesn’t come with it, and I won’t have the clearance for it. I check my fluids weekly, and the new tank has a sight glass. How can I bypass the sensor while keeping the aesthetics? I tried just leaving it unplugged, but I get a ‘low coolant alarm.’ Is my only option to take it to a shop and have the codes removed?

It’s just a simple on/off switch that reads low when open and normal when closed. You could cut the connector off and splice the wires together with a butt connector. Best to use a heat shrink connector to prevent corrosion and leave a few inches of wire attached to the connector in case you ever want to reattach it.

Just make sure that if you do splice the wires, you do it safely and securely to avoid any future issues.

Another option is to look for a sensor that fits the new reservoir. There might be aftermarket options available that could work.
