Just got a new (to me) truck... need some advice!

I recently picked up a 2007 1500 classic body with the 5.3 engine. It’s got about 290k on the motor, but the transmission has been rebuilt recently. I’ve noticed the lifters tick more often than not, and I plan to change the oil soon. What are some other things I can do to help this beauty live long? I really like the 5.3 and could use some higher intellect on this situation. Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the truck! Regular maintenance is key. Make sure to keep up with oil changes and consider using high mileage oil to help with the lifters.

Check the coolant and transmission fluid levels too. Keeping everything topped off can help prevent bigger issues down the road.

A good idea is to clean or replace the air filter if you haven’t already. It helps with engine efficiency.

You might want to look into upgrading to a better exhaust system. It can improve performance and potentially reduce that ticking noise.

Also, have you thought about getting a tune-up? Fresh spark plugs and wires can make a big difference in performance.
