Need help with vacuum lines on my GMC K2500?... any ideas?

Does anyone know how many vacuum lines a GMC K2500 5.7 TBI usually has and where each one is supposed to go? I’m trying to figure this out because I think there might be a vacuum leak somewhere.

@Porter
Thanks for the info. It really helps to know where to look. Do you think a vacuum leak could cause a lot of issues?

Bro, if you include some pictures it would help. I’m curious, did you just remove the lines and now need to reinstall everything?

Yeah, I removed some lines to check for leaks but now I’m not sure how to put them back correctly. I’ll try to get some pics next time.

I’ve seen the baseplate gasket fail too. It can start to split and actually get sucked in. With everything OFF, hold the throttle all the way open and look straight down the throats with a flashlight. It should be nice and clear. If you see the gasket creeping in, it’s done. Instead of the thin paper gasket, there is a 1/4" thick fiber type that will hold up much better.

@Kei
That’s a good tip. I’ll definitely check that out. I didn’t think the gasket could be an issue.

If you find a leak, it might be worth replacing all the lines to be safe. Old vacuum lines can crack and cause problems, especially with age.

Good point. I’ll look into that. I want to make sure everything is in good shape.

Just take your time with it. Vacuum lines can be tricky, but it sounds like you’re on the right track. If you need more help, just ask.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ll keep everyone updated on what I find.
