I am considering purchasing this 1995 Chevrolet Pickup. For a long now, I had wanted a truck so I could: 1. Run over things; and 2. Move things. The doors do not match, the dashboard is damaged, and the interior color is awful. Moreover, the vehicle has accumulated more than 200,000 miles, which worries me that the transmission can break down. He is asking $4,500, but I might undercut him based on Edmund’s TMV of roughly 1800. Actually, I do not want to pay more than $2,500. I think it has a lot of potential to be restored and it’s got a pretty roomy engine bay which seems like it will make repairs easier. What do you guys think? Anyone have any experience with a 95 at this mileage?
This is because It is a great “1st truck” for a beginner driver, because it is dependable, safe, relatively cheap, looks tough with minimal money, and parts are everywhere if in case an accident does occur! You just can’t beat the "OBS " chevy truck models.
When I was in the market for a truck, I found an old 1995 Chevrolet Pickup with over 200,000 miles on it. The exterior was mismatched, and the interior was quite worn out. Despite these issues, I saw potential in it, especially with its spacious engine bay, which I knew would make repairs more manageable. I negotiated hard and managed to bring the price down from the seller’s asking price to something more reasonable based on market value. The truck served me well for moving things and handling rough terrain, though I did have to invest in some repairs along the way, particularly with the transmission.
Given your situation, I recommend being firm on your offer, aiming for around $2,500 based on Edmund’s TMV. The high mileage and existing issues justify a lower price. If you’re comfortable doing some restoration work yourself and possibly dealing with future repairs, this truck could indeed have a lot of potential. Just be prepared for the possibility of transmission issues due to the mileage, and factor that into your budget and decision-making process.
Hi, Consider a 1995 Chevy CK if it’s well-maintained and fits your needs. Check for rust, engine condition, and service history. Have a mechanic inspect it before purchasing.
This is Texas; there are tons of trucks! For a much less money, you can receive a far better deal. As others have said, the truck’s value is probably only 2000 at most. Given how high the mileage are, I would avoid them.
You might try the older Dodge Ram 1500s if you’re looking for a truck to utilize or haul things on a daily basis. Although they are often in good condition, I have seen them for as little as $1500.
Markwelbeg, that seems like a fantastic find! It’s fantastic that you were able to negotiate a good deal and saw the potential of the ancient Chevy pickup. It is obviously easier to maintain and repair an engine when the engine bay is large. It’s good to know that despite the need for some repairs, the truck performed well for you.
