I have a 2015 with Magna Ride, and I’m hearing a “clunking” noise coming from the front left. It’s most noticeable at low speeds and nearly disappears at highway speeds. When I change the suspension setting, the noise becomes quieter for a short time but eventually gets loud again. I’m leaning toward a strut issue but wanted to get others’ opinions.
A clunky noise is usually caused by a tie rod or a steering linkage issue, but it could be worsened by a failing Magna shock. Hopefully, the factory Magna shocks have already been replaced; if not, you might want to plan for that now! Magna shocks are consumable parts, just like any other shock or strut.
Check your sway bar end links; mine was making a similar noise, and that turned out to be the issue.
I experienced the same issue. It might sound strange, but check your fog light.
The previous owner broke a clip that holds the fog light housing, so it wiggles if you push on it. Give yours a few taps and see if it makes a clunking noise.
I can hear mine from the inside when I’m driving at low speeds.
I have the exact same sound coming from that corner. It’s not much of an issue at high speeds, but it happens almost continuously on uneven roads when going under 30 mph.
I’m taking it in soon, and I’ll let you know if my shop finds the cause.
I experienced the same issue. The general consensus is that it’s usually the tie rod or factory nuts that loosen over time.
In my case, it turned out to be the strut. The dealership diagnosed it using a stethoscope. I replaced it with an OEM Mag Ride damper, but it took weeks to arrive and cost around $2,000 for parts and labor.
