There's a four-month backorder for parts on the 2024 Duramax

I purchased a 2024 Duramax with a sticker price of $87,500, and it has been in the shop for four months waiting on a single part that’s been on backorder the entire time. I wasn’t offered a rental vehicle, so I called to request one, but they said they couldn’t provide one. The part is under warranty, but this is a brand new truck, and they’re using these parts in new vehicles that are still being produced. Any advice on how to expedite the process of getting my truck back would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend talking to the service manager to try and arrange a loaner or rental vehicle. If you’re making payments on the truck, you should be able to drive something while the repairs are being completed.

I would recommend checking the lemon law in your state to initiate the buyback process. Going four months without the vehicle you’re paying for (or a loaner) is outrageous.

It was in Georgia, but I work on farms in four different counties and have put 39,000 miles on it. I believe the lemon law applies to vehicles with less than 25,000 miles.

You already have 39,000 miles on a 2024 vehicle? It sounds like you’re a road warrior, not just farming! It seems like your whole lifestyle revolves around traveling in it. Maybe they’re concerned you’ll rack up a lot of miles on the loaner vehicle.

It is frustrating how these dealers treat their customers at times
