Thinking of getting a 2018 2LT and doing a ZL1 front end conversion... would that be frowned upon?

Obviously, I wouldn’t put a ZL1 badge. Would be just going for the look… what do you guys think?

Yes. Appreciate your car for what it is. It’ll make you appreciate a ZL1 later down the road when it’s more feasible. And it’s pretty tacky to upbadge, though it’s your car and your decision.

Would never upbadge, like I said! But I’m curious, why do ZL1 owners frown on it so much? Appreciate the feedback!

@Nile
I get it. Upbadging is getting parts from a higher trim—it may not have a badge, but it’s still upbadging in a way. ZL1 parts are designed with performance in mind, so it kinda seems off when only part of the package is there. You look like a wannabe without the full package, like tires, supercharger, etc. But if it makes you happy, that’s what matters most.

@Eli
Thanks for breaking it down for me! I appreciate the honest feedback without trying to be rude.

@Nile
What’s the difference between upbadging and changing your car’s appearance to match a higher trim? Seems like the same thing to me.

Big difference, dude. One is pretending the car is something it’s not, and the other is just modding for aesthetics. I’m not trying to trick anyone by keeping the original badge.

@Nile
If you’re changing the look to match a higher trim, you’re still pretending. Just saying…

Lmao, you must’ve dropped your inheritance on that ZL1, huh? :laughing:

Yup, I did spend some of my inheritance. But I make 140k a year too, so I’m doing just fine. Enjoy your wanna-be ZL1.

@Sun
Oh, I will! :joy: Just make sure to flex that $140k salary one more time, big man.

Yes. I have a V6 and kept it stock except for adding a spare tire. Just enjoy your ride as it is. Save for something bigger down the road!

Where do you keep the spare tire?

Yes, but who cares? ZL1 owners may think you’re a poser, but at the end of the day, it’s your car, your call.

I’m not a fan of the ZL1 front end myself (prefer the SS), but if it makes you happy, go for it. Screw what anyone else thinks!

That’s a super uncommon opinion! The ZL1 front end looks way better than the SS.

@Sun
Yeah, I get that a lot! I just like the 16-18 SS look better.

Thanks, man! Appreciate your input.

Of course! I put a wing on mine and got some flak, but man, I love it.
