Turn signal on dash stuck on... anyone else have this issue?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a weird issue with my 2008 Chevy Impala. The left turn signal light on the dash is stuck on solid, and it doesn’t flash. It even stays on when the car is off and the keys aren’t in the ignition. After a few hours, it seems to reset, but as soon as I use the turn signal again, the problem comes back. I’ve tried checking the fuses and disconnecting the battery, but no luck. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Sounds like it could be a relay issue. Have you checked the turn signal relay or maybe the flasher module?

I haven’t thought about the flasher module yet! I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Weird! I had a similar issue on my car, and it turned out to be a bad ground connection. Might be worth checking the wiring, just in case.

Hmm, that’s a good point. I’ll see if there’s anything loose or corroded. Thanks!

Not sure if this helps, but my friend’s Impala had a similar problem, and it ended up being the turn signal switch. Maybe worth getting that checked?

Thanks for the tip! I’ll see if I can get the switch looked at. Might be the culprit!

What’s a turn signal switch? I’m not super car savvy, lol.

No worries! It’s the part you use to actually activate the signals (the lever on your steering column). Sometimes if it’s faulty, it can cause weird issues like this.

I had this exact issue once, and replacing the turn signal relay fixed it. You can probably find a replacement online pretty cheap.

Awesome, thanks! I’ll look into getting a new relay and see if that sorts it out. :+1:

This sounds like a tricky one. If the fuses and battery reset didn’t work, I’d maybe get a mechanic to run a diagnostic. Could be an electrical gremlin.

Yeah, I’m worried it might come to that. Thanks for the advice though, I’ll see what I can try myself first!
