Volt Theft Deterrent System

The BECM on my 2017 Chevy Volt was completed a few months ago. Following a disastrous key fob reprogramming attempt, the battery died. When I got in the car, I received “Ready for Remote 2” since I trickle-charged the 12-volt battery until it was fully charged (the local auto parts store examined it and said it was good). The car notifies me that the Theft Deterrent System is active until I hold down the start button for 12 seconds to turn off remote pairing mode. The theft deterrence system idiot light is on, but it is still operating properly. This is becoming a bit of a hassle, and my spouse is starting to lose hope and wants to sell the automobile. Advice, please (about the automobile, not the wife)? Joking around (a little).

I am not sure if my 12v battery is truly bad or if “we” misplaced the second key fob because I only had one program. I am just attempting to figure out how to return things to normal.

This is exactly what’s happening to me right now. It’s so frustrating! So, before you got an extra key, were you able to start the car by holding it for 12 seconds, and it worked every time? I’m nervous about driving it to work and potentially getting stuck somewhere.
