What's up with Tahoe prices and Corvettes?

I have always been a fan of bow ties. My first ride was a 1984 IROC. I have rebuilt that car from the ground up twice. So here’s my question…

Why are Tahoes so expensive? How can a 2019 Tahoe with 80k miles cost the same as a base model C7? What is going on here?

Somebody figured out that a truck is a TOOL… and companies will pay dearly for tools to write off their depreciation over a few years.

in the late 80s or early 90s… Lincoln Town cars were selling for 14K and sales slumped… a brilliant Ford dealer salesman told Ford they should bump the price to 10K ford did and they were selling a lot more… nobody with a lot of money wanted a cheap town car that everybody could afford…

The other thing is. Union wages…, the cost of Recalls…, the cost of the parts… cost of the robots that replace a lot of manual labor in various stages of manufacturing are expensive… the CEO and board bonuses are also calculated at excessive cost…

if you want a new truck or Corvette you are going to have to pay dearly for it. then prey it does not have electrical issues…

I am a mechanic… other mechanics seem to have lost the ability to diagnose any electrical issue without a scan tool…

There are so many electrical connectors on the back and inside fuse boxes that can and do go bad.

look at all the wiring terminals… Link

Then look at one that got overloaded and burned. Link

modular to speed up assembly on the line…

It’s pretty simple, they usually don’t. Plus, they’re way more practical.

I always thought an IROC was a unibody car…

People really like large SUVs. The big GM SUVs have always kept their value compared to their original price.

When I bought my 2005 Denali in 2017 for $9000, I thought I overpaid.

Those trucks are still selling for 7-10 grand if they’re in good shape.

@Jem
They are definitely the dream car for stay-at-home moms.

Large SUVs are basically full-sized trucks but with way more comfort and materials. Cars today are just super pricey. I just dropped 62k after discounts, tax breaks, and trade-ins for a Sierra Elevation…

Inflation is really hitting us hard and it seems like it’s only going to get worse. Plus, GM and other companies are raising prices because people are still buying. If folks stopped buying these overpriced cars, prices would have to come down.
