Why are my 2018 Tahoe tail lights not working?

I’m having a bit of an issue with my 2018 Tahoe. The tail lights won’t turn on when the nighttime lights are running, but the brake lights work just fine. I even changed the bulbs on one side, but that didn’t fix it. I couldn’t find any info on where the fuse for the tail lights is located, so I’m hoping someone here might have some advice or ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with my Tahoe. Have you checked the fuse box? Sometimes it can be tricky to find the right fuse.

Yeah, where is the fuse box located? I might need to check mine too. IDK if I’ve looked in the right spot.

The fuse box in the Tahoe is usually under the dash on the driver’s side. You might need to check your owner’s manual for the exact location.

@Clarke
Thanks for that tip! I’ll check my manual. I always forget where those things are.

Sometimes it’s not just the fuse but also the wiring. Have you looked for any loose connections or damaged wires?

That’s a good point. I had a friend who had similar issues and it turned out to be a wiring problem. Just something to check for.

@Vesper
I’ll definitely take a look at that. I’ve never thought about the wiring being the issue.

I know some people have had luck resetting their electrical system by disconnecting the battery for a bit. Might be worth a try if nothing else works.

I’ve heard of that too! Just be careful when you reconnect it. Sometimes it resets a lot of the settings.

If you’re still having trouble, maybe it’s worth taking it to a mechanic. They might be able to pinpoint the issue faster.

Yeah, I agree. Sometimes it’s just easier to let the pros handle it, especially if it’s electrical stuff. Good luck!

I hope you get it sorted soon. Tail lights are super important for safety, especially at night. Keep us updated on what you find out!
